Illustrative example on fictional data: the owner of a chain of bike repair shops asks whether a message offering a service check, sent after the first repair, helps customers come back. TORIS records the study: hypothesis, measure and the data from Steering Center. Each week it records the result: 11%, 10%, no data in week three, 12%, 9% and 12%, against 9% before the change. The owner decides to keep observing for another 6 weeks.
This illustrates the way of working; it is not a client result. TORIS proposes and records, and a person makes the decision.
A question, an analysis or a study
- Question
- You ask in plain language and get an answer that shows the data it comes from.
- Analysis
- You ask for a comparison of periods, branches or customers and get a result you can check.
- Study
- You record a goal and a hypothesis, agree a measure and come back to each new observation. Regular observation starts only after you approve it.
Not every conversation has to become a study. A study helps when you want to check whether a change you made is working.

How to see TORIS

Questions about TORIS
- How is TORIS different from reports and BI?
- Reports and BI show agreed metrics and support decisions well. TORIS lets you ask a new question of the data in Steering Center, keep a study with a recorded goal and measure, and come back to its results. Existing reports can be its sources.
- How do I know what an answer is based on?
- TORIS shows the data and reports it uses, so the result can be checked. It can make mistakes, which is why a person makes the decision.
- How do you agree access to data?
- Before rollout we agree which systems TORIS uses, who has access to it and on what terms we work with the data.
- Do I need TORIS to work with ToruAI?
- No. We build most solutions around Steering Center; TORIS can join it, but it is not a condition of working with us.
